Hello Spring - A Fresh Start for Goal-Setting
Hello Spring!
Well, not quite yet, but the longer days and occasional rays of sunshine definitely hint at better things to come.
Many people use the new year as a time to set resolutions, but I prefer a different approach. Instead of January 1st, I use the spring equinox (March 20) as my opportunity to set intentions and goals for the rest of the year. Why? Because spring symbolises renewal, growth, and fresh starts. It’s a time when nature wakes up from winter’s slumber, and that energy can inspire us to embrace change and move forward with purpose.
Why Spring is the Perfect Time for Goal Setting
Sometimes, it’s easy to drift through life without a clear direction. We get so caught up in day-to-day responsibilities that we lose sight of where we’re headed and why. Goal-setting allows us to pause, reflect, and realign with what truly matters. Spring, with its longer days and increased sunlight, naturally boosts our mood and energy levels, making it an ideal time to re-evaluate our priorities.
If you’ve been feeling stuck or unmotivated, now is the time to reset. Whether you’re looking to improve your health, change careers, deepen relationships, or cultivate personal growth, setting goals during this season can help you gain clarity and momentum.
Coaching: A Valuable Tool for Clarity and Direction
This is where coaching can be incredibly helpful. Coaching provides a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore what’s important to you and how you want to live your life. It helps you move beyond just surviving so you can truly thrive.
This is especially relevant for women in their 40s and 50s, when hormonal changes can make life feel more challenging. But even in our 30s, taking the time to assess where we are and where we want to go ensures that we enter midlife with a clear plan and purpose.
Questions to Guide Your Goal-Setting
If you’re not sure where to start, here are some reflective questions to help you set meaningful goals:
• What are my core values? (e.g., family, love, freedom, learning, purpose, authenticity, honesty, etc.)
• Am I living my life in accordance with my core values? (For example, if health and family are my core values, am I prioritising them? Or am I spending too much time stressed at work at their expense?)
• What are my current priorities? (e.g., completing a course, finishing an important work project, cooking family meals from scratch, joining a running club, moving house, settling my child into school, etc.)
• Are my priorities aligned with my core values?
• Where does health and well-being rank on my list of priorities?
• If my health is low on the list, what is the cost of not prioritising it?
• What is my vision for my life in 2025?
• What is one step I can take this week or month towards that vision?
Taking the time to answer these questions can help you gain clarity on what truly matters and where to focus your energy.

Some of you already know that in addition to my outdoor personal training and fitness business, I also run a coaching practice specialising in perimenopause health, mindset, and ADHD coaching. This year, I am expanding my expertise by pursuing a Diploma in Therapeutic Coaching. As part of my training, I am offering four spaces for five complimentary online coaching sessions each.
